Kuakata Sea Beach
Kuakata sea beach famously known as sea-daughter is one of the tourist spots in the country and is situated at Kalapara Upazila of Patuakhali district which is on the southern extremity of the country. The sea beach which is 18 kilometres (11 miles) long and 3 kilometres (1 mile) wide are 22 kilometres (13 miles) away from Kalapara town. There is a vast reserved forest on its east and west ends, and to the south lies the Bay of Bengal. The water of the sea at Kuakata is less saline than that of the sea at Cox’s Bazar. At times, white sea-kites and migratory birds are found there.
Recently a sea-beach Museum has been set up on a private initiative and there are at least 130 species of marine animals in the museum. Of the species of animals, tiger-sharks, octopus sharks, jelly-fishes, badur fish, salary-fishes, tuna-fishes and marine crabs mention-worthy Kuakata is a peerless pleasure ground of unique natural beauty. Both sunrise and sunset can be enjoyed only from Kuakata, standing on the extensive sea-shore and the sand-bank. Mainly, for this reason, every year many tourists from home and abroad visit this Kuakata, the sea-daughter.
